This park is built on a prehistoric Tequesta Indian burial ground.The park was first dedicated in 1940 and declared a bird sanctuary.There is a walking path through the park with a couple ofinformation stands, bird baths and benches. The marker on the moundstates:This mound was constructed as a place for ceremonial burial bypre-historic indians about the year 1300 A.D. It is believed thatthey were ancestors of the tribe known as the Tequesta Indians.
