Welcome to Heritage Court. Here you will find recorded the origins of this city, on yourleft is a memorial to Dr Fred H. Albee who owned the land on whichVenice is built, and on your right is a memorial to John Nolen whoconcieved the original city plan. Tis tablet is dedicated to theBrotherhood of Locomotive Engineers, which bought the land from Dr.Albee, retained the Nolen staff and built the nucleus of the cityin conformance with the Nolen plan. All this happened many yearsago, between 1925 and 1927, and much of what was done in thiseearly days established the pattern which makes Venice today one ofthe most beautiful cities in the nation.------------------------------------------------In honor of John Nolen and the plan he concieved for the City ofVenice, Florida. Authorized by resolution of the City Council April1976, the 50th anniversary of the City's founding.------------------------------------------------Fred H. Albee, M.D.F.I.C.S., F.A.C.S., Sc. D.A man of unusual talent whose foresight, dedication anddetermination made development of this city possible. His endeavorsduring the years 1930-1940 helped to assure its growth andsurvival.------------------------------------------------Carroll A. TowneB.S., A.S.L.A.1901-1991He led the movement to create and was a major contributor to theconstruction of Heritage Court which is a testimonial to theplanning and creation of Venice. He was a staunch proponent ofcomprehensive planning and provided valuable insight into thisprocess for the benefit of the community.
